IJL was founded by a Chicago woman whose engagement was called off. Discovering herself suddenly single, she began the tedious search to meet "normal", well-educated professionals. Her friends sent her out on blind dates, she used personal ads, considered the internet along with dating services, yet she wasn't comfortable in regards to any of these choices. The ideal date, she determined, was a drink after work or a lunch date. A fun, laid back, anxiety-free way to meet!

This firm was born in 1991 in Chicago and currently has locations from New York to Singapore...and many in between.
